| Summary: Phonetics by computer | |
Praat is an open-software tool for the analysis of speech in phonetics. Through its graphical interface, several speech analysis functionalities are available: spectrograms, cochleograms, and pitch and formant extraction. Articulatory synthesis, as well as synthesis from pitch, formant, and intensity are also available. Other features are segmentation, labelling using the phonetic alphabet, and computation of statistics. Praat is configurable and extensible through its own scripting language and has provisions for communicating with other programs.

- Update to version 6.4.43:
* Calling Praat from the command line: the new switch
- -send-or-form sends a script to a different already running
GUI instance of Praat, like --send does, but takes no
arguments (except for the name of the script file) and
presents a form on the screen if the script has a form in it.
* More detailed manual page for fileNames$# ().
