Summary: A Python bindings generator for C/C++ libraries |
SIP is a collection of tools that makes it very easy to create Python bindings for C and C++ libraries. It was originally developed in 1998 to create PyQt, the Python bindings for the Qt toolkit, but can be used to create bindings for any C or C++ library. For example it is also used to generate wxPython, the Python bindings for wxWidgets. This package contains all the developer tools you need to create your own sip bindings in the currently default version. Look for python311-sip<N>-devel, if you need to build a package with a specific version of SIP v<N>.
GPL-2.0-only OR GPL-3.0-only OR SUSE-SIP
* Tue Nov 05 2024 Dominique Leuenberger <dimstar@opensuse.org> - Only produce python-sip-doc when the default is SIP4: SIP6 does not provide a -doc package. The previously generated meta package only contained a README flle and no dependencies. * Mon Nov 04 2024 Dominique Leuenberger <dimstar@opensuse.org> - Do not rely on %requires_eq macro: it expands too early and newly errors out when the package specified does not exist. In case of python single spec, the rewriting mechanism for the python -> pythonXYZ flavor happens 'too late'. * Thu Jan 25 2024 Ben Greiner <code@bnavigator.de> - Remove old skip_python2 - %{?sle15_python_module_pythons} must be declared before first use of %python_module * Sat Jun 10 2023 ecsos <ecsos@opensuse.org> - Add %{?sle15_python_module_pythons} * Wed Jan 25 2023 Ben Greiner <code@bnavigator.de> - Expand version from installed flavors: The primary python3 flavor could be older on a backport for 15.X * Sun Nov 07 2021 Ben Greiner <code@bnavigator.de> - Make sip6 also the default on Leap -- boo#1192300 * Mon Sep 13 2021 Ben Greiner <code@bnavigator.de> - Don't create non-devel -sip metapackage for sip6 -- boo#1190441 * Fri Feb 26 2021 Ben Greiner <code@bnavigator.de> - Upgrade defaults: SIPv6 for TW * Fri Feb 19 2021 Ben Greiner <code@bnavigator.de> - Make this a meta package * Depends on python-sip5 as default for Tumbleweed * Depends on python-sip4 for Leap 15.3 and older * Package python-sip6 is new and might become default in the future. * Tue Nov 24 2020 Benjamin Greiner <code@bnavigator.de> - Update to version 5.5.0 * Added the 'exceptions', 'extra_compile_args', 'extra_link_args' and 'extra_objects' attributes to the 'Buildable' class with corresponding bindings options. * The 'abi-version' project option and the '--abi-version' of sip-module can now specify a major version only (as opposed to a major.minor version) to select the latest ABI with that major version number.
